EDO LAWMAKER CALLS FOR PEACE AMID IJAW-BENIN TENSION

The lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Omosede Igbinedion, has cautioned against any act capable of triggering disunity between the Ijaws and Benins in Edo State.

This followed a recent claim and counter-claim over the ownership of Gelegelegbene, an oil producing area in Ovia North East of the state, which has so far near carrying of arms between the two ethnic nationalities.

Speaking on the debate, Omosede said it was important for the Ijaws and Benins to always toe the line of peace and unity, stressing that the unity of the country remained sacrosanct.
