NIGER DELTA LEADERS DEFEND TINUBU’S COASTAL ROAD PROJECT

Prominent Niger Delta leaders have faulted the recent criticism of the Lagos-Calabar project by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Donald Duke.

They said they are strongly in support of President Bola Tinubu for executing what they consider a critical dividend of democracy for the geo-political zone and its people.

Duke, a former Cross River State Governor had , in a television interview claimed that Nigeria would not be able to fund the project and that the road would not go beyond Epe in Lagos State.

The immediate past President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof. Benjamin Okaba, dismissed Duke’s claims as ‘most unfortunate’ and the ex-governor as a doubting Thomas engaging in ‘executive speculation’.

Okaba said those doubting the ability of the federal government to see the project through to give the administration a chance to deliver on its promise.

He insisted that the progress already achieved on the road on multiple fronts rubbishes Duke’s view that its construction won’t go beyond Epe.
