TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED AS NDLEA AND ARMY DESTROY CANNABIS FARMS IN EDO

A joint operation of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and Nigerian Army has led to the destruction of two cannabis plantations and the arrest of two suspects in Eko Camp, Illushi, Esan Southeast Local Government Area of Edo State.
NDLEA Edo State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju said the plantations measured 0.54 hectares, with an estimated combined yield of 1,360.23kg of cannabis.
The suspects, Ajeh Egwuda and Nonso Ajodhe, both from Esan South East, claimed they took to cannabis cultivation due to poverty and negative peer influence.

Ofeynju said they recovered 107 kg of processed cannabis, including seeds, from the farms during the operation.

He warned that the Command will not rest until cannabis cultivation is rooted out of Edo communities as the Agency continues to deploy intelligence-driven surveillance and enforcement.
