Governor Monday Okpebholo has donated a sum of one million naira to each of the Forty one Edo indigene evacuated from South Africa following xenophobic attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The governor made the announcement on Monday while receiving the returnees made up of men,women and children at the Festival Hall of the Government House in Benin City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Governor said the money will help them secure accommodation and gradually beging the process of rebuilding their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the state government would also provide soft loans to enable the returnees to start businesses and reintegrate into society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on behalf of the returnees, Riches Unubun thanked the Edo State and Federal Governments for facilitating their evacuation from South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Director-General of the Edo State Migration Agency, Lucky Agazuma, commended the governor for supporting Edo indigenes facing hardship in other African countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Agazuma further assured that the Agency would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the returnees are successfully reintegrated<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
