World Football governing body FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 World Cup will receive championship rings for the first time in the tournament\u2019s history, in addition to the iconic trophy and gold medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIFA disclosed this in a statement on Thursday ahead of Sunday\u2019s final between European champions Spain and defending champions Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to FIFA, the initiative introduces one of the most recognisable traditions in American sports to global football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIFA said a limited edition of two thousand and twenty six individually numbered rings would be produced to commemorate the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It explained that 30 rings would be reserved for the World Cup-winning team, while the remaining 1,996 would be made available to fans worldwide as an official licensed product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The governing body added that one side of the ring features the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the other will be customised to reflect the identity of the winning team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each ring will also be individually numbered, custom-fitted and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FIFA said the captain and head coach of the winning team would receive temporary rings immediately after Sunday\u2019s final to commemorate the victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It added that the 30 rings for the champions would later be customised and officially presented to ensure a perfect fit for each recipient.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
