The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has honoured an invitation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gbajabiamila’s lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed that the Chief of Staff appeared before the anti-corruption agency in compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the lawyer, Gbajabiamila gave his testimony, responded to questions from investigators and returned to his official duties after the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation follows allegations by the self-acclaimed Director-General of the disputed agency, Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed that the Chief of Staff demanded forty-eight per cent of the agency’s proposed twenty-seven point three billion naira take-off grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adeyemi also alleged that Gbajabiamila received four hundred million naira through a proxy and requested an additional two hundred million naira to facilitate presidential approvals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Chief of Staff has denied all the allegations, insisting he has no personal, official or professional relationship with Adeyemi and never demanded or received any money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a related development, the House of Representatives has inaugurated a twelve-member ad hoc committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the establishment of the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council and its inclusion in the twenty twenty-six Appropriation Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee is also expected to investigate the alleged allocation of one point three billion naira to the agency, with Speaker Abbas Tajudeen saying the probe is aimed at establishing the facts surrounding the matter<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
