{"id":1591,"date":"2026-08-04T12:45:05","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T12:45:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/?p=1591"},"modified":"2026-08-04T12:45:31","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T12:45:31","slug":"caf-sets-dates-for-champions-league-and-confederation-cup-draws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/index.php\/2026\/08\/04\/caf-sets-dates-for-champions-league-and-confederation-cup-draws\/","title":{"rendered":"CAF SETS DATES FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE AND CONFEDERATION CUP DRAWS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"678\" height=\"452\" src=\"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/caf.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/caf.png 678w, https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/caf-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nigeria\u2019s representatives in the 2026\/2027 CAF Interclub competitions, Rangers International, Rivers United, Shooting Stars and El Kanemi Warriors will discover their preliminary-round opponents on Thursday, August 6 when the Confederation of African Football, CAF conducts the draws in Cairo, Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NPFL champions, Rangers International and Rivers United are competing in the CAF Champions League while Shooting Stars and El-Kanemi Warriors will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round draw is scheduled for 1pm Nigerian time, followed by the Champions League draw at 2pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ceremony will be broadcast live through CAF\u2019s official digital platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rangers and Rivers United will be hoping for favourable draws in the Champions League as they begin their respective campaigns for a place in the group stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For 3SC who finished third in the Nigerian Premier Football League, the continental campaign represents another opportunity to restore the club to the forefront of African football after several years away from the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El-Kanemi, meanwhile, earned their place in the CAF Confederation Cup by winning the President Federation Cup will also be looking to make a strong return to continental competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first preliminary-round first legs are scheduled for September 4 to 6, with the return legs taking place between September 11 and 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second preliminary-round first legs will be played from October 16 to 18, while the return fixtures are scheduled for October 23 to 25. The group stage is expected to begin in late November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAF has also introduced a new financial incentive for participating clubs, with teams eliminated in the preliminary rounds set to receive a One Hundred Thousand Dollars solidarity payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CAF Champions League winners will receive Six million Dollars,
