{"id":1597,"date":"2026-08-05T09:54:55","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T09:54:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/?p=1597"},"modified":"2026-08-05T09:54:55","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T09:54:55","slug":"tinubu-approves-30-to-80-salary-hike-for-armed-forces-personnel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/index.php\/2026\/08\/05\/tinubu-approves-30-to-80-salary-hike-for-armed-forces-personnel\/","title":{"rendered":"TINUBU APPROVES 30% TO 80% SALARY HIKE FOR ARMED FORCES PERSONNEL"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"518\" src=\"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tinubu-Oluyede.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tinubu-Oluyede.png 920w, https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tinubu-Oluyede-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/kufmtv.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Tinubu-Oluyede-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Bola Tinubu has approved salary increases of between 30 and 80 per cent for Nigeria\u2019s armed forces personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that the pay package that will benefit approximately 250,000 personnel will take effect from September 1, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Onanuga said the graduated structure of the increase scales inversely with rank, with the highest percentage increases going to the most junior personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the new arrangement, he said officers above the rank of colonel, Brigadier-Generals, Major-Generals, Lieutenant Generals and Generals, will receive a 30 per cent salary increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Personnel ranking from colonel down to warrant officer will receive a 50 per cent increase, while those from private to staff sergeant will receive an 80 per cent increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pay package will raise the annual salary bill for the armed forces from N660 billion to N924 billion, an increase of N264 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The President linked the pay rise directly to the sacrifices personnel continue to make in the fight against banditry, kidnapping and terrorism across parts of the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President Bola Tinubu has approved salary increases of between 30 and 80 per cent for Nigeria\u2019s armed forces personnel.
