The Federal Government has announced plans to connect all riverine communities across Nigeria to telecommunications services by mid-2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, disclosed this on Sunday at Obighoro, a riverine community in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tijani spoke while addressing participants at the grand finale of the Bini River  Live festival, organised as part of activities marking the fifth coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister, who attended the event alongside the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, said President Bola Tinubu had directed his ministry to ensure that underserved communities were connected to telecommunications services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tijani said the government was already installing 3,700 telecommunications facilities in rural communities across the country, with Obighoro-Ogheye among the areas targeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the network installation in Obighoro-Ogheye would be formally flagged off in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tijani added that the government expected all riverine communities to have access to telecommunications services before the middle of 2027.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
