Team Nigeria continued its impressive showing at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Wednesday as Goodness Nwachukwu delivered a sensational performance to win the country’s seventh gold medal at the competition by breaking her own world record in the women’s F42-44/F61-64 discus event.

She produced a stunning final throw of 39.66 meters to surpass her previous world record by more than three metres and successfully defend her Commonwealth title in emphatic fashion.

Funmi Oduwaiye of Wales got the silver medal with a throw of 38.52 meters while her compatriot, Bree Cronin clinched the bronze medal with a season’s best throw of 36.00 meters.

Team Nigeria enjoyed more success elsewhere on Wednesday as Jessica Oji won silver in the women’s shot put with an impressive throw of 17.87 meters.
