The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma Chapter, has commenced a comprehensive and indefinite strike over the failure of the university authorities and Edo State Government to implement the 2025 FGN/ASUU Agreement and pay accrued allowances from January 2026.
In a resolution issued after its Congress meeting on Monday, the union said the 14-day ultimatum given to the university and state government expired without any formal response or commitment, despite unsuccessful efforts by the union’s branch leadership to secure implementation of the agreement.
The union says the strike includes withdrawal from teaching and lectures, examinations, statutory meetings and supervision of students’ research projects and industrial training.
The Union also directed its executive committee to engage the media and activate a strike monitoring team.
