The Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, has directed all capital market operators to submit their second quarter 2026 Ownership Structure and Capital Flows Returns on or before Friday, July 10th.
In a circular issued by the Commission, the directive applies to registrars, brokers, dealers, fund managers and other relevant operators.
The SEC says the quarterly returns are required to support the compilation of Nigeria’s Balance of Payments and International Investment Position statistics, aimed at improving the quality and reliability of the country’s external sector data.
Operators are expected to provide information on new equity and debt investments involving residents and non-residents, foreign portfolio holdings, cross-border capital market transactions, as well as investments arising from mergers and acquisitions.
The Commission says the reporting exercise is a continuous quarterly obligation and urged operators to ensure that all submissions are complete, accurate and submitted within the stipulated deadline.
The SEC adds that accurate data collection is critical to strengthening Nigeria’s external sector statistics and enhancing investor confidence in the country’s capital market.
