The Southern Kaduna Peoples United Associations has pushed for an autopsy to determine the cause of death of Mary Habila, a medical professional who died on official duty at the country home residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
SOKAPU President Samuel Tabara said he was not aware of any cultural restraint against autopsies in Southern Kaduna, despite the family’s claim of culture.
The family’s lawyer has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to release her body for burial, saying she was a trained nurse who served as a civil servant.
Minister Umahi has insisted the death must be subjected to a thorough and impartial investigation, and has formally requested an autopsy before her remains are released
