TROOPS RESCUE SIX KIDNAP VICTIMS, RECOVER N800,000 FROM TERRORISTS IN KATSINA

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered N800,000 naira from terrorists in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops also engaged terrorists in a separate operation along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area, forcing them to flee and abandon a motorcycle.

The Media Information Officer of the JTF Theatre Command, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Danja said troops responded to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted six occupants along the Dandume-Sheme Road.

He said the troops moved swiftly to the area, engaged the terrorists and overwhelmed them with superior firepower, forcing the attackers to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

According to him, the troops subsequently searched the area and rescued all six victims unharmed.

He said N800,000 naira and a vehicle taken by the terrorists were subsequently handed over to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.

In a separate operation, Danja said troops engaged terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara LGA, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding bushes.

Danja said the joint task force would sustain aggressive patrols and offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and protect lives and property.

He thanked members of the public for their continued support and urged communities to provide timely, credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations.
