NIGERIA’S SUPER EAGLES READY TO TAKE ON GUINEA BISSAU

All is now set for the top of the table 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash between the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau and Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Bissau on Tuesday.

Guinea Bissau defeated Tanzania 2-0 in Dares Salam on Friday while Nigeria came from behind to beat Madagascar 2-1 in Uyo.

Only one team will secure automatic qualification from the section because Tanzania, as co-hosts of the tournament, have already been guaranteed a place.

That leaves Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau, the highest-ranked nations in Group L locked in what is already shaping up as a decisive contest at Estadio 24 de Setembro by 5pm Nigerian time.

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has demanded victory from his team ahead of the game.

Nigeria Football Federation Acting General Secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme has also urged the players to entertain no distractions when they take on the Djurtus.

Nigeria and Guinea-Bissau have met four times at senior level, with the Super Eagles winning three.

The Wild Dogs’ lone victory came in a 2023 AFCON qualifier in Abuja.

Ethiopian referee Tewodros Mitiku will officiate the game on Tuesday
