Lawyers and stakeholders in the justice sector may no longer need to dig through old, shared law books from the defunct Bendel State era to know what Edo State law says.
This is because the Edo State House of Assembly has just passed a bill giving the state its own complete and updated set of laws for the first time since its creation from the old Bendel State.
The bill, which now awaits the Governor’s assent, follows months of work by the Edo State Law Reform Commission, headed by Donald Esikhena, Esquire.
Chinedu Ekeja reports that the development has been received with relief and joy among lawyers, lawmakers, and other stakeholders.
