Healthcare services at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital remained disrupted on Monday as the Association of Resident Doctors’ strike entered its eighth day.
The strike, in compliance with a directive from the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, follows prolonged but unsuccessful attempts to resolve welfare concerns with LUTH management.
The association outlined two non-negotiable demands: completion of the Resident Doctors’ Quarters and restoration of call duty meals.
It said an uncompleted renovation project has denied doctors access to their residential quarters for over 18 months.
The association said this has forced many doctors to sleep in their cars, hospital lounges and other unsuitable locations while continuing to provide healthcare services.
